The Culture Department of the City Council of Alicante is about to complete the cleaning of the facades of the Municipal Archive, a historical building of the eighteenth century, located in the historic center of Alicante.

The intervention-the first to be reminded of these featuresaccording to the Councillor for Culture, Miguel Valor-started late last August and fastened part of the Plan for Restoration and Conservation of Historic and Landscape Heritage of the City of Alicante, provided with 649,500 euros, in which other buildings and 26 sculptures of the city are included.
The building of the Municipal Archive belongs to the eighteenth century, but has previous references to the sixteenth and seventeenth century. The work has been focused on cleaning the entire surface in the threestreet facades: Labradors, San Isidro and San Andres and cleaning the black crust using ammonium carbonate.

This building houses valuable documents that are part of the city, as the Book of Privileges of Alfonso X El Sabio (XIII century), the statutes and regulations of guilds of Alicante (XVI century), Ferdinand the Catholic parchment granting title the city to the town of Alicante (XV century), the Book of Peixca (XVI century) or the registration tabarquinos (XVIII century). It also stores in its 6,500 meters of shelving the plans of the Monastery of the Holy Face, the San Roque neighborhood or construction of City Hall, as well as posters of taurine, festive or cultural issues, or photographic collections Sánchez, Collado, Frias , Senante and Bañón. The library, chronic or periodicals, publications since 1834, are some of their saved gems.

The former owner of the house was Thomas Caturla Labradors, in his will, issued December 2, 1768, he founded an entail which linked this mansion.
